Internship in Financial Stability Assessment of Risks in the Banking System

We offer the opportunity to gain insights into macroprudential supervision and financial stability research. During the internship, you will support our staff with quantitative risk analyses and the development of (empirical) models for the German and international banking sector.

Focus area 1:

You analyze financial stability risks in the banking sector using empirical and model-based approaches. Topics are, for example, the macroprudential assessment of credit, market, interest rate, climate, liquidity, or concentration risks in the national and/or international banking system. To this end, you work with various micro-level datasets and apply established econometric methods to identify, analyze, and assess financial stability risks.

Focus area 2:

You analyze financial stability risks arising from interconnectedness within the banking system, from deposit guarantee schemes, digitalization, the distress or resolution of large banks, as well as structural risks, such as too-many-to-fail risks.

Special values: your qualificationsSpecial values: your qualifications

  • Master’s or PhD students in economics with a focus on economics or finance, (applied) mathematics
  • Current grade point average of 2.5 or better

 

The following are highly desirable:

  • Strong interest in quantitative and empirical methods
  • Proficiency in Stata, R, Python, Matlab, or comparable programming languages
  • Interest in topics related to financial stability
